
Columbia, SC — South Carolina Ballet, now celebrating its 65th Anniversary Season, proudly brings William Starrett’s Nutcracker back to the Koger Center for the Arts for two magical weekends: December 13–14 and 20–21, with performances at 3:00 PM and 7:30 PM. A beloved holiday tradition across the Southeast, this production has captivated audiences for generations with its Southern grandeur, opulence, and timeless artistry. Filled with glittering snow, custom-designed backdrops, lavish sets, and the unmistakable charm of the South, Starrett’s production is both beautiful and beloved—an immersive experience that sets a new standard for holiday entertainment. Every detail, from the grand Southern mansions to the snow-laden trees, reflects the ballet’s signature blend of elegance and regional character.
Columbia audiences can look forward to the romantic pas de deux between Louisa and the Lead Cadet, a tender moment that foreshadows Clara’s journey through the Land of the Sweets.
