Jordan Hawkins

Soloist

Jordan Hawkins, who was born and raised in Irmo, South Carolina, began her dance training at age three at Columbia Conservatory of Dance under the direction of Mariclare Miranda and William Starrett. After attending summer programs at the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities, she competed as a senior member of the CC Dance Company, earning the titles of Senior Miss Superstar and Senior Miss Dance in 2008. She also received scholarships to Adrenaline Dance Conventions, summer sessions at Steps on Broadway and Broadway Dance Center, and training with the Radio City Rockettes.

Jordan spent three summers as a guest artist with South Carolina Contemporary Company, where she performed multiple roles in Martha Graham’s Maple Leaf Rag as well as several original works by Miriam Barbosa.

Now entering her 18th season with South Carolina Ballet as a Soloist, Jordan has performed a wide range of roles, including the company’s original Rat Queen in Nutcracker, Candy Cane, Neapolitan, Purple Maiden in Dracula, Jordan Baker in The Great Gatsby, and Big Swan in Swan Lake. In addition to performing, she has developed a strong passion for teaching and choreography. For the past 18 years, she has taught at Columbia Conservatory of Dance, where she trained, and has also served as a rehearsal assistant for SCBII.
