Principal Dancer Claire Rapp has been promoted to the rank of Ballerina. CEO & Artistic Director William Starrett said he first contemplated the promotion after reflecting on Miss Rapp’s ”extraordinary interpretation of Juliet in Romeo & Juliet”, in addition to her acclaimed principal performances as Daisy in The Great Gatsby—a role created for her by Starrett—the Swan Queen in the full-length Swan Lake, Aurora in the full-length The Sleeping Beauty, Titania in the full-length A Midsummer Night’s Dream, the title role in Giselle, and the Sugar Plum Fairy in Nutcracker.
Starrett shared that Rapp “performs her roles with such grace, technical brilliance, and dramatic excellence, while remaining open to growing and improving technically and artistically. Claire does all this while simultaneously balancing her important roles as a wife and mother to two young children.” Starrett further states that Claire “continues to be a positive role model for all the dancers in the company. All these factors contributed to my decision to promote her to Ballerina.”
Additionally, Company Artists Dylan Bacon and Sydney Murrell have been promoted to the rank of Demi-Soloists in recognition of their continued professional growth and artistic development.
